MVP Value Proposition: What Makes You Worth It
A value proposition is the promise of value you deliver. Get it wrong and nothing else matters.
Value Proposition Components
- •Target customer: Who is this for?
- •Problem: What pain do they have?
- •Solution: How do you solve it?
- •Benefit: What outcome do they get?
- •Proof: Why should they believe you?
Value Proposition Canvas
| Customer Side | Product Side |
|---|---|
| Jobs to be done | Products and services |
| Pains they experience | Pain relievers you offer |
| Gains they want | Gain creators you provide |
Strong Value Proposition Examples
- •Stripe: Payments infrastructure for the internet
- •Slack: Where work happens
- •Notion: All-in-one workspace
- •Linear: The issue tracker you will enjoy using
Writing Your Value Proposition
- •Lead with the benefit, not the feature
- •Be specific about the outcome
- •Use customer language
- •Keep it under 10 words if possible
- •Make it memorable
Testing Your Value Proposition
- •Can someone understand it in 5 seconds?
- •Does it answer 'so what?'
- •Is it different from competitors?
- •Do customers use these words?
Your value proposition should pass the 'forehead slap test.' Customers should think: why did no one do this before?
